hey same problem from earlier. First off, someone posted a link to a site with a method for loading the grub back, but it dosnt work for me. apparently the command "grub" does not work. So any ideas? PS i MIGHT just install a newer more update version of linux instead if it takes to much effort to fix this.
If anyone knows of a good version (ready to go for programming so i dont have to d/l all the updates to compile stuff) let me know and ill just install over my old one. thanks

Ubuntu all the way. You get
Ubuntu all the way. You get nearly everything you need for programming by just running 'sudo apt-get install build-essential'. No matter what distro you choose, you'll still have to download updates, but it's the ease of doing so that changes. Pretty much any distro based off of Debian will be fine.

Oh, Matt...
Didn't I try to hook you on Ubuntu last year? But no, you had to go all SUSE on me. Now look at the trouble you got yourself into.
haha no man im still using
haha no man im still using ubuntu. in fact, the EXACT same install (and up until i installed Vista) the same grub loader that you set me up with last year. Sooo you should come fix it, and hook me up with the new ubuntu, seeing how the d/l keeps freezing!
If you're running Ubuntu all
If you're running Ubuntu all ready you can just upgrade to the newest version. If you're more than one rev out though, you'd have to do all of the intermediate steps.
The fact that you don't have a grub binary is strange. Any other files randomly disapearing?

You have to burn it as an ISO, not a data CD. I don't know how to do this in Windows, though.

The ubuntu website actually has instructions on how to do this (without the infamous nero, if you don't have it): https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

HEY! Don't be hatin' on
HEY! Don't be hatin' on SUSE! Besides, didn't he install Ubuntu last year, couldn't get it to work and took my SUSE disk instead? As I recall, everyone wanted to be cool like me ;) haha
Vista and SUSE 10.0 get along perfectly (I wonder why...)
EDIT: wait, nevermind, I guess that never actually happened...it was this year that he decided to finally be cool like me and "upgrade" ;) haha
I do not believe that Vista
I do not believe that Vista gets along with SUSE, Pottz. Vista doesn't even get along with Vista.
