KDE Stabability

Is it just me, or is KDE extremly unstable? I have the K-panel crash regularly, and when trying to transfer files to a memory stick, it only sometimes works, if it's happy. (Yes, I do saftely remove it)

Anyone else have these problems? Any tips on making KDE more stable? (I love it's eyecandy!)

Oh, and I'm running edgy ubuntu, with kde-desktop installed.

I installed Edgy Kubuntu on

I installed Edgy Kubuntu on this laptop and had no problems. I uninstalled it and put Gnome on only because KDE was a tad chuggy for my liking. What's the specs (specific hardware might be a boon as well)?

Just another update on KDE

Just another update on KDE on my machine:

For some odd reason, all the options have stopped being remembered, and I can't change my desktop picture in it. *shrugs* I have no clue why.

I've used Kubuntu on

I've used Kubuntu on multiple machines and not had issues with stability. I would check your dmesg log and /var/log/messages to see if other things are also crashing that you don't know about.

Make sure to do a apt-get update and dist-upgrade to get the latest patches.

I had some stability trouble

I had some stability trouble with kubuntu KDE, as they make patches of their own to dumb down KDE's configurability.

I use gentoo with KDE (as they just use the official KDE version, not their own patched version), and it's rock solid.

Well, thanks to Drew, it's

Well, thanks to Drew, it's fixed now. All he did was get me to move my .kde config folder, so everything would go back to defaults, which solved the issues. Thanks again to Drew.
