Show emoticons as graphics?
Not sure if people would actually want this, but phpBB had the emoticon system where things like :S would become a graphic. Just a thought.

I rather prefer no smilies... There's a certain nostalgia to text being just text. And that way copied and pasted code doesn't turn into smilies.
I'd just like to note that I'm fairly sure I'm in the minority, but it's my two cents :D
