Mario Party 8

spent 3-4 hours playing this last night.. I think it's getting crappy reviews, but it's a decent game. probably a 7/10.

Caveat: I haven't played any MP games to date.

Positives:
- first game that makes me feel ok about rushing out and buying 4 wii motes within the first 2 months of wii ownership.

Biggest Negative:
- no widescreen support, really weak.
- too much text at times...

Just like every other Mario Party game, it features way too much stupid stuff in between the mini-games, and not enough playing mini-games. Additionally, winning the game is based so much on luck, winning more mini-games, collecting more coins and collecting more stars than everyone else doesn't mean you'll win.

My feelings on the Mario

My feelings on the Mario Party series are pretty much summed up here. Mario Party 1 was fun. It went swiftly downhill after that for me. It's... it's like I don't even know the game anymore, you know? We had such a beautiful thing going, but it just wasn't happy with itself. It kept changing, and I just... I just couldn't deal with it anymore. It was the best thing for both of us to go our seperate ways.

I'll agree with that, if it

I'll agree with that, if it weren't for the motion controls, it would be a very skip-able game. But for those of us that never gotten around to playing previous mario party titles, it's worthwhile.

'Get a Rope" killed the it

'Get a Rope" killed the it for me. I think that it was in MP5

Put the BS luck factor over the top.

Just got this as an early

Just got this as an early birthday present. I've never played any of the previous games before, and I have to say it's pretty fun. I love all of the hints of previous nintendo titles throughout the game. I can't way to have an MP8 + alcohol party :).

I can't stand Mario Party games. Also, since when were most Mario games NOT party games to begin with? Strikers (the original, god I hate the new one), Power Tennis, and Melee still find their way out for some four player action quite frequently.
