Society of Computing and Information Science

The Society of Computing & Information Science is the official student body representing B. Comp., B.A. and B.Sc. Computer Science Majors on campus. We seek to provide resources and activities to strengthen the community of all CIS students for mutual support and development.

tEddie

The SOCIS maintains a dedicated server for free use to all computer science students. Our original server, Eddie, whose name from Douglas Adam's "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (Eddie is the name of the overprotective onboard computer on the Heart of Gold), died last year. Fortunately, we have replaced Eddie with something better - a Better Eddie. Thus, bEddie was born. We are now using our third, and most powerful server to date: tEddie.
All old Eddie and bEddie accounts were transfered to tEddie.

At the heart of operations for the SOCIS is the Lounge of Computing & Information Science.
The lounge is in the basement of the Reynolds building and is the site for all our
meetings, event preparations or just a good place for anyone to work when in the area or when
working in groups.
