How To? - Format my USB key in MacOS

basically, i want to know how to format my USB key on a MAC.

I googled it, and all that tutes said were:

"its harder than u think"
or
"just type this list of 40 commands into the console"
or
"just go into Disk Utility me thinks.. then figure out how to do it"

so im looking for an actual step by step way how to do it.. because its not for me and im not sitting infront of a mac right now so i cant figure it out myself.

Thanks.

-Chris

heres the steps i did 5 sec

heres the steps i did 5 sec ago to check:

-plug in/mount your usb drive
-open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)
-select your usb drive
-select the Erase tab
-you are given a number of formatting options (i cant actually format my drive right now, but nothing is greyed out, so presumably it would work)

Yes, that's it. Disk Utility

Yes, that's it. Disk Utility is pure awesome. It can burn and rip discs to a variety of formats, as well as do things like create transparently compressed or encrypted disk images.

And if you're really into things, look at this hint for some 'internal' preferences for DU.

Regarding Disk Utility in

Regarding Disk Utility in 10.5,

i was a little disappointed that the ability to resize partitions in leopard isn't as flexible as i might like.

my external drive is split as
HFS (20gb) - currently used for limited time machine backup
FAT (200gb)
NTFS (20gb)
in that order, physically

Three big limitations:
1. You have to delete an adjacent partition to resize another one (cant make one smaller and one bigger on the fly)

2. The deleted partition has to be the one after the one you want to resize

3. You can't make a partition smaller (as far as i can tell)

I know that you can resize

I know that you can resize down HFS+ partitions because that's what Boot Camp does. Other types, I'm not sure.
