I feel special

Did anyone else notice they had more space available in WebMail? I think this is just a reflection of the personal space allocated to each user (which the email account shares), but I am not positive. At any rate, it's like Xmas all over again!

Yeah, I noticed that earlier
Yeah, I noticed that earlier today. I actually thought it was just me, but I guess not.

Nope
I offload to gmail, so I haven't seen my webmail account in months.
Good to know they've allocated space though. It's nice to know I'm wasting even more :)

Yes, the space is shared
Your WebMail is stored on your general.uoguelph.ca UNIX account, accessible via FTP, SSH, and Telnet -- which should never be used.
I believe it's stored in the 'Maildir' directory of your home folder.
Quota was 50MB, but I think it's up to 75 or 80 now....
I disagree that it should
I disagree that it should never be used... In fact, it's the only tolerable way for me to search my webmail. Just logging into webmail takes about 3 minutes for me, so I can skip the initial loading of the inbox and grep through my files.
That is of course when I am stuck on campus and my home computer is off... Otherwise I forward everything.

I believe he's referring to
I believe he's referring to Telnet in specific.

Oh my bad. Josh

Telnet
Yes, I was referring to Telnet, and it's total lack of security. Worse, UNIX systems are a tempting target.
Always use SSH to connect to UNIX/Linux systems remotely. Most *nix systems already have a client. Windows users can download PuTTY.
