@socis.ca email now available!

Considering the state that bEddie is in, I'm surprised that the @cs-club.org accounts still function.

CCS does not want student groups hosting mail services. As such the DNS modifications necessary for us to host socis.ca can only be requested by rick & if he requests the change, he would be held responsible for any problems arising from our services. I am sitting on ITSAC for CSA and was able to chat with some of the CCS people responsible for mail & they where surprised to find out we had cs-club.org hosted in the way we do.

cs-club email addresses will be able to be pointed to a @socis.ca account as an alias. This will allow people to send mail to @cs-club.org and have it delivered to your @socis.ca account. Your @socis.ca account will have 6GB of storage and allows POP3, IMAP and SMTP access.

Our external hosting is with google & is quite easy to maintain. Although i consider maintaining a mail system a grate learning experience for new administrators of socis, email is a little to critical for lost mail, open spam relays "learning mistakes." the google package also allows for more storage and features that we don't offer. We still own the domain & can export all the mail out of google at a future date if we wish.

One concern that has been voiced is that google will likely be indexing our @socis.ca mail & such mail will be stored on US soil. (Same as the gmail service)
