CPES updates
Guelph seems to be becoming more interest in obtaining donations form philanthopists (aka graduates)
Phys, chem, Calc and "something else" put in one 1.5 credit course for sciences, to teach them why each is relevant.
General chem and 1st year phys? Yes. Possibly two semester.

Department Updates
Trying to improve our numbers.
"Wishlist"
schollarships(30x1K)(grad, undergrad, minorities, and free tuition for %90+)
new labs(gaming/graphics, HCI, Green etc)
new buildings
endowed chair(adds to presteige).
Scolarships for portfolio/essay other non marks bassed merit, because $1000 may be too small to individually attract students.
Problem: It takes time to look over portfolios.
Could SOCIS run a competition that the department pays for as a bursary?
Targeting minorities itself is discriminatory
Encourage buissness ventures from university students.
A course working for a company for resume fodder.
Problems: Could become more about whatever company pays the most.
Some golleges already have this and it works very well when well managed
In house development? Then they can't do finger pointing
How do we keep consistency in difficulty/workload. Special topic type course. Run irregularly. 3000 and 4000 level students only
