I like what I am seeing. Very refreshing and easy on the eyes. A welcomed change from the black on white.

Looks good! I like the new
Looks good! I like the new design.
My only concern is that we're showing whole e-mail addresses, even to users who aren't logged in. This could result in a LOT of spam.
Have to agree with that,
Have to agree with that, maybe filter out the @uoguelph.ca part if possible.
Also it forces you to put in a subject even if you are replying... and the signature, for some reason is part of the comment box... kinda annoying.

You're email address is all
You're email address is all ready public as last I check the UoG LDAP server allowed you to download all the email addresses in one fell swoop!
If you don't put in a subject, it just grabs the first part of your comment. I'm sure one of the webdevs will find a good solution :).

none
I just use it for school stuff. Occasionally one of my relatives in Africa rings me up to send him some money so he can get his dead relatives money from obscure bank accounts (those island banks sure charge a lot for money transactions)... but not a big deal :D

This is true, but that doesn't mean I like that either. We should endeavor not to have e-mails in plain text. Just because our e-mails can be harvested in one location doesn't mean we should stop being concerned about this.

meh
I'm actually pretty dissapointed in this. Its the old site with just a new colour code (and wayy too bright imo). The announcements are still in a very poor place and there is no events section.
the layout also really buries information in the links. annoying trying to navigate the list of links to like the constitution link
edit: okay just found I change change them theming. that makes it a lot easier on the eyes
edit 2: apparently the bluemarine look doesn't have an announcements section or a calendar section
Umm... if you look at the
Umm... if you look at the code, you'll see it's much more modular and maintainable. Also the entire site theme can easily be changed per user. For an idea of what this site can be made to do, see drupal.org. Yes, Andrew is a Drupal addict.
Bryan is aware of the work that needs to be done with the site in general, I think he's just focusing on the forum functionality for now as that's pretty important :).
The socis link works for me.

So how do we go about
So how do we go about changing the theme? Could we have a few presets to choose from (ideally a nice darker one)?
`
Click "My account" > "Edit"
you should see some radio buttons and screen shot previews
select the one you want and click submit
'my account' on the left,
'my account' on the left, though they are all white on black themes. You can always override the CSS in your browser :).

The annoucements/calendar
The annoucements/calendar sections as seperate entities are seperate modules which I don't think are set up yet and aren't related to the theme. For an example of the most common module, see http://www.csaonline.ca/event.

Announcements/Events
The intended practice for announcements and events is that stories (a content type meant for small amounts of information) are posted and published on the front page. The announcements on the side are there for system related information only (upcoming downtime and the like).
This allows for two things. The first being more then just I can post these events I only have to approve them (saving everyone from my bad grammar and spelling). The second is the rss on the right will give you a feed of the front page and in turn a feed for every event and announcement we have.

So far it looks alright,
So far it looks alright, there are a few things that I find a tad annoying about it but I'll have to play around with it a bit before I really pass a judgment.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
Post Count
Haha, I want my post count back.
the idea is a good one,
the idea is a good one, however the implementation is rather lacking. I'm all for drupal as a CMS, except when it comes to forums. I've still yet to find a DECENT forum/cms platform... Drupal's forums suck, i've been able to bend wordpress and simple machines into a decent combination, but wordpress lacks cms capabilities.
these forums are weak
White on black > black on white,
Too much white. We have light bulbs for a reason. I like the layout, but it should be skinned like the other site. White on black > black on white,
