Some thoughts:

  • Search is broken. I ran cron.php and it worked. So set up cron!
  • Set up 'clean' urls. Removes ?q=
  • Look into the 'path' module so you can easily map / to /. It's freaking awesome.

Oh. Please take a screenshot of the top ten posters when you disable the old site :).

First two done. I am a little hesitant about setting up more modules as the more modules I have installed the more memory it soaks up.

This has been moved to suggestions since it is mostly suggestions

Sweet. I noticed that the forums seem to be putting the first few words as the subject for posts. If you look at the RSS feed, this makes things a bit difficult to keep track of. Is there a way to force the subject to be the same for all messages in a thread?

You might also want to look into these modules (yes, more memory - so buy some damn it!).

For that matter, I just noticed that replies are actually threaded. Something to consider given the previous style of forum. I could easily see threads being very long and not really on topic.

I agree.

As nice as it looks, I'm not sure it maintains the susinct clarity and overall "tightness" of the previous phpBB. I could see things potentially getting messy in larger threads.

Two RSS feeds

This one will show all comments made (replies to forum posts etc)
http://www.socis.ca/?q=crss

This one is a feed from our front page and should be watched for announcements related to events.

Yeah, I looked at crss, but the feed is pretty much useless as it doesn't include the original topic due to the subject mangling all ready mentioned.

I just noticed that every post has the same background, is there a way to make posts have different colors. One white one light blue, makes it easier to read?

I really don't like how it adds the first few words of a post as the subject when u choose to leave the subject blank. It only adds "spaghetti"

Yeah, I think the whole subject thing looks silly, BUT I like how it doesn't give a warning message when I go here anymore.
